A recent survey was conducted among 30 Haldane High Schoolers to evaluate students’ opinions regarding the sufficiency of the time between classes. Currently, students are allotted a four-minute interval to transition between periods, which often requires traveling distances across campus buildings, including the elementary and middle school building, the Mabel Merritt annex, and the high school. The data indicates that the majority of students find the current interval to be insufficient, with 18 (60%) of students responding that they believe the duration is inadequate, as there isn’t enough time in between classes to transition, in comparison to 8 (26.7%) who believe there is a sufficient amount. The majority of the students who responded stated that having a longer transition period, around 5 to 7 minutes, would be an adequate amount of time to traverse to each class. The 4 (13.3%) clarified that it depends on the previous class’s location, as they have a short period to transition from the elementary school, but ample time when moving between classes exclusively within the high school.
