A new classroom is being set up that will integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, or STEAM. This fresh take on education is meant to foster creativity and critical thinking by facilitating student collaboration. Now that plans are underway, The Outlook asked three Haldane students what they would like to see in their new space.

“I think I would say more like research-based work, especially once you get to college, that’s more of the norm. We’d be doing research papers and independent research on topics. I think it’d be helpful to have a class like that at Haldane, where you can get used to that format of research in the science area.”

“I’d like to see classes that incorporate art and science into a single course. Somebody who’s really interested in music and somebody interested in science could take the same class, and both really enjoy it.”

“I personally would love to see more classes focused on environmental issues at Haldane. Like maybe a certain project could be to pick a specifi c issue or area around Haldane and try to come up with an environmental solution to that.”
