Whether she is by her golf cart on the turf or helping patch a player up on the sidelines in the gym, Meghan Crowe, Haldane’s athletic trainer, is a common sight at most sporting events, lending a helping hand to athletes in need.
Crowe’s office is located near the cafeteria, and though it may not be the most spacious, it is usually packed with athletes seeking help. Crowe is often seen massaging, taping up, or providing assistance to those seeking medical advice.
Despite her years of dedication to helping athletes, Crowe didn’t always want to be an athletic trainer. Originally focused on playing sports in college, she majored in physical training while pursuing her athletic ventures. Later, returning to school, she attended Dominican University to become an athletic trainer.
There’s more to being an athletic trainer than putting a Band-Aid on an athlete who just got scratched up in a game. Crowe helps people in their recovery process after an injury, treating bruises and sore limbs, and is the first one on the scene after an in-game injury. Senior and three-sport athlete Anna Nelson said that Crowe has supported her through all her injuries and has found her outside sources to help with rehab. Senior Ryder Griffin, another senior athlete, said that Crowe “is always there to help you get through any sports-related issue.”
Injuries are not the only way Crowe supports athletes. She is also a constant presence at practices and games, and is always providing advice for players, using her immense sports knowledge to help them improve. She offers advice and critiques to any athlete who seeks her out. Junior athlete Connor Keegan said, “Meg has helped me many times during soccer practices, and is always looking out for players on my teams, and really wants us all to succeed.”
