For the seventh year under Mrs. Stein’s leadership, the High School Wind Ensemble played A Rockin’ Halloween, arranged by Michael Story, as part of an annual tradition for the Elementary School Halloween Parade on October 31. The medley includes excerpts from Ghostbusters, Werewolves of London, and Scooby Doo.
The idea was born from Mrs. Stein’s student teaching experiences at Oakland Mills Middle School in Columbia, Maryland. There, she loved to watch the band have its own parade for younger students during Halloween. Those experiences inspired her to bring up the idea with the elementary principal at Haldane and incorporate it into the school’s celebrations.
“My favorite part of participating in the parade is seeing all of the younger students wear their costumes and the way they light up and get excited about the music as they walk,” Mrs. Stein explained. This heartwarming tradition celebrates both our young students and our amazing music program, a perfect display of Haldane’s strong sense of community.
