Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders had a blast on Friday, November 8th as the middle school dance lit up the auditorium. With an attendance of 135 out of 165 students, the dance had one of the highest turnouts in the event’s history, according to school officials. Not only was the crowd large, but it was also well-received by students, teachers, and even Dr. MaryAnn Seelke, the middle school principal!
Sixth grader Carli Philippi said, “It was amazingly fun!” Another sixth grader, Murphy Hendrix, commented, “It was a wild success!” Although it was a student dance, some teachers attended as chaperones, and they enjoyed the event as well. “The dance was absolutely extraordinary, the student council did a great job!” Tom Virgadamo, the sixth-grade math teacher, remarked. To top it off, Dr. Seelke also attended the dance. When asked for her opinion afterward, she stated, “This past dance was amazing! The kids picked the best music, and the lighting was great.
This year’s middle school dance was the third since the Covid-19 outbreak. Dr. Seelke said Haldane was hesitant to plan the return of the dance because “there wasn’t enough time or materials to plan it”. The PTA decided students would benefit from a dance, so instead of the student council planning a dance and the PTA helping, the PTA fully planned and organized one in Saint Mary’s Rectory on May 5, 2023. After that dance was a success, Haldane agreed to host the following dances, with the student council planning and the PTA organizing.
This fall-themed dance was organized by the middle school student council who, according to what everyone says, did an amazing job. The student council treasurer, seventh grader Eleanor Pearson, said, “The middle school dance was a great success! We found people really enjoyed themselves, and we hope to put on more events like this in the future!”
