Kris’ Ginger Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
¾ cup shortening
1 egg
4 tbsp molasses
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
½ tsp nutmeg
Optional:
1 tsp chopped fresh ginger
Instructions:
1. In a stand mixer/large bowl and hand mixer, cream together sugar and shortening.
2. In a separate bowl, combine molasses and egg and add to the sugar and shortening mixture.
3. Add the flour, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and optional fresh ginger.
4. Roll into balls and roll in white sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
